The photos and videos we received from Ukraine this month show a lot of happy faces. That is special and shows how much the work of the Metadidomi Foundation means to people. At the same time, the situation in Ukraine is still serious. The war continues, bombings continue and there is no prospect of an end to the conflict yet.
What has changed is the season. The sun is shining again and with the arrival of spring, hope also grows. People can replant their vegetable gardens and try to rebuild life gently. The winter of 2025/2026 was tough. There was a strong frost and the electricity went out regularly in many places. Nevertheless, people have kept going. The resilience and perseverance of the population remains impressive.
The period just after the winter is often a difficult time. Old stocks are running out and there are no new harvests yet. That is why Metadidomi helps extra with food packages, especially during this period. Older people and vulnerable people in particular are having a hard time. Due to rising costs, they are often barely able to pay their fixed costs, let alone food and other necessities.
The seed and seed project has also been a great success again this year. More than 5,000 families have been helped with:
• 180,000 kg of seed potatoes
• 5,000 packages of high-quality tomato seeds
• 18,000 kg onion sets
• different types of vegetable seeds
This allows thousands of families to build their own vegetable garden and grow food for the coming year.
