June 2025 Update

Support for families of dead soldiers, meetings with army pastors, and practical help for children and widows are at the heart of this update, amid increasing attacks.

Increasing attacks and growing uncertainty

Last month, Ukraine was again in the news a lot. Attacks on cities are increasing and many people are having to hide from drone and missile attacks at night. In addition, there are casualties and deaths.

During his stay in Ukraine, Evert van Dijke experienced this reality up close. The threat is constantly present and affects the daily lives of millions of people.

Supporting families of dead soldiers

During his trip, Evert attended a meeting in the church of army preacher Viktor. This meeting was specially organized for children, women and parents of fallen soldiers.

The Rehoboth School in Stavenisse had filled personal shoe boxes. Sixty children received a gift. A small gesture with a big meaning.

These families carry a heavy burden. In addition to losing their loved one, there is often no income left. Mothers are on their own. The emotional pain is great and the daily worries are no less.

Mental and practical help

Viktor and other army ministers of the Evangelical Christian Baptist Union are actively visiting these families. Meetings are organized, children visit Sunday school and there is room for conversation and prayer.

In addition, families receive food packages and youth camps are organized, where children receive a week of relaxation and attention.

This work requires continued support. In prayer, but also financially.
