In recent months, volunteers in Ukraine have been intensively collecting, loading and distributing firewood in the provinces of Mykolaiv and Kherson. The route to Kherson has now become so dangerous that large trucks can no longer reach this city. That is why the wood in Mykolaiv is transhipped and transported to the villages in small vans.
This way of working once again shows the strength of cooperation within the church networks. The lines of communication are short and everyone is committed to helping each other. This is desperately needed, especially towards the winter, as Russia is once again bombarding critical infrastructure with drones and missiles. For the fourth year in a row, many people are living in uncertainty about what the winter will bring.
We are also seeing the effect of the seed and seed project earlier this year again. From the families that received seed potatoes, we have now received more than 80,000 kilos of potatoes in return. In addition, we received approximately 10,000 kilos of onions. This revenue exceeded all expectations and was immediately distributed to Mykolaiv, Kherson and Balaklia in the Kharkiv region.
For the coming period, we want to distribute another twenty to twenty-five loads of firewood in our work areas. A freight to Mykolaiv, Zaporizhja or Kharkiv costs an average of 2,000 euros.
